"White Collar's" Matt Bomer to Guest Star on "Glee" as Blaine's Older Brother!!
The star of the USA Network drama is near a deal to guest star in an April episode of the Fox musical series as Blaine's (Darren Criss) older brother, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. As first reported by TV Line, Bomer would appear in an April episode and share a song with his on-screen sibling.
The casting comes a week after THR exclusively reported that Bomer would join an all-star cast in Murphy's next feature, the big-screen adaptation of the Tony-winning drama The Normal Heart.
Bomer’s will play Felix Turner, a gay fashion journalist who becomes the boyfriend to Mark Ruffallo's Ned Weeks and is diagnosed with HIV. Bomer will be stepping into the shoes that won The Big C's John Benjamin Hickey his Tony.
The Glee casting marks the latest in a long string of high-profile guest starts this season, many of whom are playing family members to the show's core cast. SAG Awards Honors "The Help"!!
"Dream big, dream fierce." The real-life ladies of The Help would have agreed with Viola Davis, it's worth it.
Accepting the trophy for female actor in a leading role for the
period drama, Davis told the audience gathered at L.A.'s Shrine
Exposition Center for Sunday night's Screen
Actors Guild Awards: "What is there [in life] but a dream. You can't trade in your dream for another dream. I am so proud to be an actor."
It's an appropriate motto for a cast who were also recognized for their work in the film as an ensemble, the top honor of the night.

Also taking home a prize for her role in The Help: Octavia Spencer, who was recognized for her work as Minny Jackson the maid, her first SAG award.
"Thank you for putting me in a category with so many beautiful
women I know and love," she said, dedicating her award to "the

New Local Theatre Website Launches January 28!!
London's local theatre scene is about to gain another vehicle for promoting its productions.
London
Downtown Theatre Online, a new website featuring video stories on
upcoming local productions, goes live on January 28. Also known as
LDTonline, the website is the brainchild of Matt Loop and the
husband/wife duo of Harry and Andrea Edison.
"When Simon Goodwin and Jeff Culbert stepped down as the voices of
Theatre in London on CHRW last year, Matt Loop and I considered taking
over for them as hosts of the show," says Harry Edison. "We realized
that time would be an issue for us, so we considered other ways to
accomplish the same goal. My wife, Andrea Edison, has been producing
video of local theatre for the last year and that seemed like a natural
way for us to promote the local and area scene. What came out of it was
the website."
The site will launch with four video features, with a focus on February productions and video coverage of the 2012 Beat DISH Awards. In the weeks and months to come, the LDTonline team plans on preparing features on venues, theatre companies and events like the Fringe. We want to take people right to the shows and the people that make theatre happen in this area in a way that CTV hasn't, says Edison.
“People can keep coming back because we will never have a lack of
fresh material,” says Andrea Edison. “We really want them to walk away
either knowing about a new show opening or learning how they can get
involved in the local theatre scene.”
With backgrounds in broadcasting and journalism, all three will produce with Matt and Harry hosting the bulk of the features with Andrea behind the scenes focusing on shooting and editing. Matt’s wife Jen designed the site and will maintain it.
“There are so many amazing talented people and exciting theatre productions in London by local companies that we felt they needed to be recognized,” says Matt Loop. "Response so far to the site and concept has been amazing. We are really looking forward to showing people what happens behind the scenes of these shows.”
Harry adds, "Everyone from the director to the costume designer is equally important and as our slogan states, we hope to be 'Bringing you London’s theatre from ON stage to Online.'"

Kate Beckinsale's "Underworld: Awakening" Tops Box Office!!
Kate Beckinsale is back with a vengeance, with her latest "Underworld" movie opening at No. 1 this weekend.
"Underworld Awakening" made an estimated $25.4, distributor Sony Screen Gems reported Sunday.
This is the fourth film in the vampire action saga.
Beckinsale starred in the first two movies as the warrior Selene, then
bowed out of part three but returned for this latest installment.
"Underworld Awakening" was shown for the first time in 3-D as well as on
IMAX screens, where it made $3.8 million. That's 15 percent of the
film's weekend gross, which is a record for an IMAX digital-only run.
Sony had hoped the film would end up in the low-$20 million range.
But Rory Bruer, the studio's president of worldwide distribution, says
the fact that it did even better – despite a snow storm that hit much of
the Midwest and East Coast – primarily has to do with Beckinsale's
return.
"She is such a force. Her character – you just can't take your eyes
off of her. I know the character is very dear to her, as well, and she
just kills it," Bruer said. "The 3-D aspect of the film also brings
something, makes it a fun, visceral ride."

Johnny Depp Suits Up as a Vampire for "Dark Shadows"!!
The versatile star – whose real life relationship with Vanessa Paradis is on the rocks – has teamed up with his frequent collaborator Tim Burton to take on the role of vampire Barnabus Collins in the upcoming film Dark Shadows.
The movie, which will be released May 11, is based on a gothic soap opera and also stars Michelle Pfeiffer, Helena Bonham Carter and Johnny Lee Miller. In it, Depp battles other supernatural creatures such as werewolves, ghosts and witches.
Depp's take on the undead strays from the look of reigning vampire heartthrob Robert Pattinson. Instead of chiseled good looks and sparkling skin, Depp’s character is creepy with haunting dark circles around his eyes and claw-like fingernails filed to a point.

The 2012 Beat DISH Theatre Awards!!
The 2012 Beat DISH Theatre Awards, Photos by DISH Photographer Richard Gilmore & Details for Next Year!Hilton London Ballroom January 17, 2012 If a hotel ballroom teeming with nearly four hundred patrons hooting and hollering in a collective chorus of surprise and satisfaction is an indicator of this city’s hugely thriving theatre scene, it is clearly unnecessary to look any further. Tuesday evening at London’s Hotel Hilton was the scene of the 2012 Beat Magazine Theatre Dish Awards gala which in its third year is growing in popularity and prestige. It is the time and place to celebrate excellence at the local level of comedic, dramatic and musical theatre productions. ![]() This year’s grande fête got underway with the opening performance including Donald D’Haene and his ensemble of dancers. Despite the energy and jazz hands this number was a "drag"… only in the sense that Donald, the awards’ organizer and producer, did his thing in true reversal of Victor/Victoria fashion. I’m certain Ms. Andrews would have been proud – maybe even Cher. The rest of the evening’s activities proceeded with nary a glitch as awards were given out, speeches extemporaneously articulated and performances shared, all as hearts skipped a beat or two in awaiting the names of winners being outed from their respective envelopes. ![]() Cable T.V.’s Jeff Leeson and Lars Classington (above) helped to create an informal yet professional ambiance with their quips, witty rejoinders, and playful interaction with the audience. It was refreshing throughout to hear genuinely grateful acceptance speeches without the treacly solipsism that usually accompanies similar award ceremonies. Many of London’s High School performers were also honored for their talent in their respective school shows and their exuberance and gratitude could be discerned clear across the ballroom from one end to another. [Right: Alexa Roebbelen]Almost forty awards were presented from honouring Best Gams to Best Stage Manager to Best Drama/Musical. A lot of china was distributed to many smiling faces; there was obviously much significance attached to being a recipient in being recognized for hard work, commitment and a love for the magic of the theatre. A panel of judges was part of the selection process that ultimately determined the outcome of these awards. This year appears to offer another season of great theatre for all of us to attend and enjoy. Many legs will be broken again to be sure. Multiple Bravos, Bravas, and Bravi are to be extended for the indispensable participation of The Beat Magazine, and of course the indefatigable efforts of M. Donald D’Haene who freely donates his blood, sweat and smiles to one of London’s singular and yearly events which is quickly becoming one of the parties not to be missed. For all his hard work and visionary ideas should we henceforth call him Sir or Dame Donald? [or maybe both as befits the occasion?] More photos here: http://www.thebeatmagazine.ca/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=869:the-beat-dish-2012-winners&catid=23:theatre-category&Itemid=37 |
