Will Smith (Jack) and his real life son, Jaden Smith (Kitai) are playing a father and son in After Earth. In the story, their spaceship crash lands on Earth a thousand years after it has been abandoned by mankind. Jack, badly injured from the crash, is captured by a remaining Earth-dwelling colony, leaving his son to find and save him on a planet that is now a strange and dangerous place.
