Titles and Release Dates for the Hobbit Films!!

New Line Cinema, Warner Bros. Pictures and MGM have announced the titles and release dates for filmmaker Peter Jackson's two-film adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's enduringly popular masterpiece "The Hobbit". The first film, titled The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, will be released on December 14, 2012. The second film, titled The Hobbit: There and Back Again, is slated for release the following year, on December 13, 2013.

Both films are set in Middle-earth 60 years before Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings," which Jackson and his filmmaking team brought to the big screen in the blockbuster trilogy that culminated with the Oscar®-winning The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. The adventure of "The Hobbit" follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the fearsome dragon Smaug.

Under Jackson's direction, both movies are being shot consecutively in digital 3D using the latest camera and stereo technology. Filming is taking place at Stone Street Studios, Wellington, and on location around New Zealand.

Ian McKellen returns as Gandalf the Grey, the character he played in "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, and Martin Freeman, who just won a BAFTA TV Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the BBC series "Sherlock," takes on the central role of Bilbo Baggins. Also reprising their roles from "The Lord of the Rings" movies are: Cate Blanchett as Galadriel; Orlando Bloom as Legolas; Ian Holm as the elder Bilbo; Christopher Lee as Saruman; Hugo Weaving as Elrond; Elijah Wood as Frodo; and Andy Serkis as Gollum. The ensemble cast also includes (in alphabetical order) Richard Armitage, Jed Brophy, Adam Brown, John Callen, Stephen Fry, Ryan Gage, Mark Hadlow, Peter Hambleton, Stephen Hunter, William Kircher, Sylvester McCoy, Bret McKenzie, Graham McTavish, Mike Mizrahi, James Nesbitt, Dean O’Gorman, Lee Pace, Mikael Persbrandt, Conan Stevens, Ken Stott, Jeffrey Thomas and Aidan Turner. American Idol Winner is Scotty McCreery!!

After Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina performed three songs each on the first night of the American Idol finale on Tuesday, Jennifer Lopez summed up the competition: "It's a tight race," she said. "America has their job cut out for them."

Now that job is done. The votes – 122 million of them, a new Idol record – are in and after a star-studded spectacular, host Ryan Seacrest announced the season 10 winner.

The winner is Scotty McCreery!

"It's been a year since me and Lauren Alaina tried out now," Scotty said in apparent disbelief. "We've been together since day one and we're going to stay together. This is just – never in my wildest dreams ... I got to thank the Lord first. He got me here."

Scotty is an Idol first, a deep-voiced country traditionalist. Even though he's only 17, he's preternaturally good. I think the soul of Jimmie Rodgers or some other Nashville legend entered his body at birth. (read more)

CNN Anchor Don Lemon Reveals He’s Gay!!

CNN’s Don Lemon, who last year stunned audiences when he said he was molested as a child, has revealed he is gay. Lemon, 45, has a new memoir coming out called Transparent. He told Bill Carter of the New York Times of the inherent risks of coming out as a news personality.

“I’m scared,” he said to the Times. “I’m talking about something that people might shun me for, ostracize me for.”

Although some TV personalities out, most notably MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow and Thomas Roberts, he said being a black males makes it even tougher to be gay.

Chord Overstreet Goes Dark!!

Someone’s taking a cue from his costar! Just days after Glee‘s Dianna Agron debuted her short new look — posting video of her dramatic haircut to her blog — another of the show’s stars has taken a plunge.

This time, it was Chord Overstreet, who plays hunky singer Sam on the hit show. The actor — who’s been seen spending time with starlet Emma Roberts lately — showed up at KIIS FM’s Wango Tango concert in Los Angeles Saturday night sporting a shorter, darker do. “At the end of the season, I just wanted a haircut,” he told reporters before the concert, echoing Agron’s sentiment. “So I just cut it all off.” As for the hair hue, which was once bright blond, Overstreet had a simple explanation: “I cut the highlights out.” Wonder which Glee star will make the cut next!

Adele Covers OUT Magazine!!

The 23-year-old singer’s new album, 21, has become shorthand for heartbreak. As she prepares for her summer tour, the Grammy winner shows she’s much more than a pretty face with a killer set of pipes.

Musical phenomenon Adele graces the cover of Out's Pride issue, and she tells the magazine why she's uncomfortable being treated like an idol. "I would hate it if my fans were, like, 'I wish I was you,' because I'm as insecure about myself as the next person... [just feeling] that I'm not good enough in my music, in my relationships, and that I'm never going to be brave enough to tell anyone how I feel." The singer, whose best-selling album, 21, was inspired by a break-up, also revealed that she had been prepared to give up singing if it would have saved her relationship. "I would still be singing in the shower, of course, but, yeah--my career, my friendships, my hobbies... I would have given up trying to be the best." (read more)

Glee Does The Hollywood Reporter, Again!!

You could say Glee's Season 2 finale, airing May 24, has been two years in the making. After all, it was always co-creator Ryan Murphy's intention to shepherd his freakishly talented group of misfits to meet their destiny: the fictitious national glee club championships in New York. And like the Fox show's characters, who devour Manhattan in a frenetic first-timer's visit, Glee hit NYC over five days in April with the sort of precision you might expect of a commando military mission: 10 moving targets, including Times Square and Central Park, which serve as part of the glee club's life-changing tour of the city. The episode ends with the climactic competition and a death -- victim as yet unknown ... (read more)
