'Sporty Spice' Expecting First Baby!!
Melanie Chisholm is ready to spice up her life – with a baby! The sometime Sporty Spice, 34, and her boyfriend of six years, property developer Thomas Starr, confirmed the pregnancy on her Web site Friday morning.
"Some happy news," she wrote. "I can now announce that Tom and I are expecting a baby and we are very happy."
Mel C. follows in the footsteps of her former Spice Girls bandmates – Victoria Beckham, Melanie Brown, Geri Halliwell and Emma Bunton – who have all become moms.
Baby buzz building began last week, when Chisholm wore a baggy dress during a show in Liverpool last week.
"As I'm sure you'll understand, we needed time to wait for results and tell our families," she explained on the site.
Even as she prepares for motherhood, the singer says she's "also excited" to begin writing songs for a new solo album.
"I will need to take some time off to be a mum," she wrote. "But, before you know it, we'll be back."
Her "very excited" trainer, Matt Roberts, adds: "Her pregnancy is great news. Melanie is fit, healthy and well and I am sure she will sail through her pregnancy, and I know that she will look great afterwards too, as I will be making sure that she does!"

Madonna Reveals Tour Secrets!!
Madonna fans – get ready to party! As her countdown to her Sticky & Sweet tour begins, the Queen of Pop is preparing to take fans on a "rock-driven, dancetastic journey," her Web site reported Wednesday. The singer – who turned 50 earlier this week – reveals that her two-hour show will be broken into four sections: 1920's “gangsta pimp,” old-school New York club, gyspy (described as a "VIP trip to 'La Isla Bonita' infused by the spirit of Romanian folk music”) and far-eastern inspired rave.
After a grueling 653 hours of rehearsal, the tour kicks off in Cardiff, Wales on Saturday. Each performance will include a medley of Madonna's hits, old and new – while the singer models more than eight costume changes. (She'll open the show wearing Givenchy, before moving on to many of the major couture fashion houses.)
On stage, she will be joined by 16 dancers and a 12-piece band. And let's not forget Britney Spears, who will be making a virtual appearance on the tour for a top-secret collaboration.
After its U.K. start, the tour travels across Europe before the U.S. leg begins Oct. 4 in East Rutherford, N.J.

Daniel Radcliffe Talks about His Broadway Debut – and His Nude Scene!!
Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe says taking the stage in Equus "has given me a little more confidence" – and his nude scene is no big deal. "It's only seven minutes at the end of the play," Radcliffe, 19, told the audience at an Aug. 19 talk held by the New York Times.
The actor is in New York rehearsing for his Broadway debut in Equus, which begins previews Sept. 5, after starring in the play in London last year. Performing live "was amazing," Radcliffe said. "As long as it goes well, you can't stop smiling."
Radcliffe also said he had some brief hesitations about continuing his role as Harry Potter (the sixth movie in the series, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, is due out next summer). "It would have been really hard to see someone else [play Harry Potter]. Especially if he was very good – that would kill me!"
Radcliffe discussed his role models (his mother and father, and actors Gary Oldman and Stephen Fry) and and his favorite bands (the Sex Pistols, the Libertines.) He also said that he doesn’t read reviews or look at fan Web sites. "It would be stroking my ego," Radcliffe said.
Asked about how he would celebrate the end of the Potter film series, Radcliffe joked, "We’ll go out and all the actors [will] do the [stuff] their insurance haven't covered."

Pink, Rihanna, T.I. and Paramore Will Play the VMAs!!
This year's MTV Video Music Awards might get a little explosive. Multi-platinum artist Pink, Rihanna, Paramore and T.I. have signed on to perform at the 25th annual event, hosted by British comedian Russell Brand, airing live from Los Angeles on Sept. 7.
"I can't wait," said Pink, who added that she intends to "blow stuff up." The rocker, who performed her hit "Just Like a Pill" at the 2002 show, will treat the audience to her new single "So What."
Also returning to the VMA stage will be pop star Rihanna. She will follow last year's performance of "Umbrella," which won the video of the year award, with a live rendition of her new No. 1 hit "Disturbia."
The frequent magazine cover girl is a contender in two categories this year: best female video for "Take a Bow" and best collaboration in a video for "If I Never See Your Face Again" with Maroon 5.
Rapper T.I. is also set to play the ceremony, following an arrest in Atlanta last October in the parking before the BET Hip-Hop Awards, which scuttled his plans to perform that night. His "No Matter What" is up for best male video this year.
The band Paramore, whose "Crushcrushcrush" is competing for best rock video and best art direction in a video, has been added to this year's parade of performers, rounded out by the Jonas Brothers, Kid Rock and Lil Wayne.

It's a rock band in the making: Gwen Stefani and her rocker husband Gavin Rossdale welcomed their second child, a son, on Thursday in Los Angeles, PEOPLE has learned. Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale was born at 12:46 p.m. and weighed 8 1/2 lbs. He joins the couple's other son Kingston, who turned 2 in May.
"Kingston, Gwen and Gavin Rossdale welcomed the newest member of their family," they say in a statement. "Mother, baby and family are all happy and healthy.
Stefani, 38, who is one of four children herself, has spoken openly about her hope for more children. "I'm in a race to have another," she told InStyle last year before announcing her pregnancy.
The No Doubt singer, also the designer behind the L.A.M.B and Harajuku Lovers fashion lines, told the magazine that Rossdale is "super into being a dad."
Rossdale, 42, also told PEOPLE that the couple planned to follow friends' advice and get a gift for Kingston so he didn't feel left out when his new sibling arrived. "Apparently when the baby comes home, you've got to bring a really good present for Kingston," he said.
As for parenthood, Rossdale told PEOPLE, "It's terrifying and exciting and brilliant."

Christina Applegate Cancer-Free!!
Christina Applegate, who was diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer this month, revealed on ABC's Good Morning America Tuesday that she has undergone a double mastectomy – even though cancer was only detected in one of her breasts. Privately, she admits, "Sometimes I cry. Sometimes I scream, and I get really angry and I get really into wallowing in self-pity sometimes, and I think it’s all part of healing."
Having watched her mother, Nancy Priddy, battle breast cancer – and then suffer from a recurrence many years later – the Emmy-nominated star of Samantha Who?, 36, told interviewer Robin Roberts that she wasn't taking any chances, especially since she has the breast cancer gene, BRCA1.
"My decision, after looking at all the treatment plans that were possibilities for me, the only one that seemed the most logical and the one that was going to work for me was to have a bilateral mastectomy," said Applegate. "So basically I had a prophylactic double mastectomies."
Explaining her rationale in taking that dramatic step, she said, "I didn't want to go back to the doctors every four months for testing and squishing and everything. I just wanted to kind of be rid of this whole thing for me. This was the choice that I made, and it was a tough one."
The surgery took place three weeks ago. She did not undergo radiation or chemotherapy.
Applegate, whose initial reaction when she received her diagnosis, was. "Oh my god. I was so pissed off, so mad … I was just shaking." But then, she said, "Immediately I had to go into take-care-of-business mode." (read more)

Alexandre Despatie Wins Silver in Beijing!!
The medal hanging around his neck showed he had finished second in the three-metre springboard at the Olympic Games, but in Alexandre Despatie's heart he knew he had won a much bigger battle. When Despatie pumped his fist in joy after his final dive Tuesday at the National Aquatics Centre he wasn't just celebrating his second career Olympic silver medal. He was celebrating a victory over injury and self doubt.
"My silver medal is gold to me because of all the bad things that happened to me this year," said the 23-year-old from Laval, Que. "I was able to get it together."
Despatie nailed his final dive -- a two-and-a-half somersault with two twists -- to hold off a challenge from defending world champion Qui Kai of China and finish with 536.65 points. His silver added to Canada's haul of four medals Tuesday.
China's He Chong won the gold with a dominating 572.90 points. Qin took bronze with 530.10.
Despatie shook off a miserable performance in Monday's preliminaries, where he dipped as low as 21st, to climb on the podium.
"I was very angry," Despatie said about his start to the competition. "I tried to stay calm but I was pissed because from
the beginning I wanted to come here and right away show that foot injury was way behind me and I can dive.
"I didn't do as good as I wanted to. That was a turning point."
In the months leading up to the Games there were questions if Despatie would be healthy enough to dive in Beijing. Since February he's had a back problem.
A bad situation
got worse in April when he fractured his right foot kicking a soccer ball during warm-ups. That caused him to miss seven weeks of training.
"The hardest part of coming back from that injury was mentally," Despatie said. "Physically we always do the training. Mentally it was very hard for me to stay positive and believe I was going to pull this off, believe that I was going to be able to come in, put six dives together, and perform."
Despatie remembered talking to his friend and fellow diver Arturo Miranda after his first day back on the board when his foot had healed.
"I felt like a beginner," he said. "There were days at the beginning where all my reflexes were gone, everything was gone.
"I remember the first day I started diving. After that practice I told Arturo `we're very far from the promised land my friend.' I had to stay calm and stay positive and believe in myself and believe I was going to be able to perform today. And I did."(read more)
