Rodney Jerkins Says He's Helping 'Reinvent' Britney Spears!!

Grammy winning producer Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins says he's working with Britney Spears on some "very dancey, really up-tempo, aggressive, catchy, and hook friendly" material for the singer's next album.

"I'm trying some new things [with Spears] … I've always worked with Britney and I love working with her," Jerkins told Rap-Up TV last week at Interscope Geffen A&M's Creme of the Crop dinner in Los Angeles. "I'm try to reinvent her and reinvent myself with her project."

Jerkins, who will produce two tracks on the untitled record, last worked with the pop star seven years ago on her self-titled Britney album, producing the remix for the track "Overprotected" and "I Love Rock 'n' Roll."

Despite the pop stars's rocky year – including an ongoing custody battle with her ex-husband Kevin Federline and two hospitalizations – the producer stresses that one thing has remained the same about Spears: "She's always professional." He adds that while some artists take a long time to record a song, during a recent studio session, "[Britney] walked in at 8:30 and was out by 10:30."

As far as Spears's mind-set, Jerkins says she's, "working on the positive side." Producer Sean Garrett, who has not yet gone into the studio with Spears but is set to work on her new record, also recently told PEOPLE, "I know she's been doing a lot better … You just want to give her the opportunity to get things back together."

And it would seem that Spears is getting back on track. Over the weekend she engaged in some happy mommy time when sons Preston and Jaydenhad a sleep-over at her Studio City home.

Adds Jerkins: "It's about to be her time again."

Ed Westwick Calls Chace Rumors 'Amusing To Us!!'

Things have gotten a little more gossipy for Gossip Girl heartthrobs Chace Crawford and Ed Westwick – but then, the two guys know the territory.

"I just laugh them off," Westwick told PEOPLE about the discussions heating up the Internet – questioning the nature of his and Crawford's relationship.

"What are you going to do?" says Westwick. "People who know me and Chace and the cast know that we are all great friends. And that's the extent of it all. Those things that go around are just amusing to us, really."

Despite the scuttlebutt, Westwick was in great spirits Friday night at Tao Las Vegas as he celebrated his 21st birthday. Crawford had planned to join the party, but canceled.

"I thought he was going to be here, said the birthday boy. "I was hoping he would make a show."

Despite the cast's non-appearance at the bash, they did send Westwick birthday presents, didn't they? Well, no.

"They haven't gotten me anything, just a 'Happy Birthday' and a smile," Westwick said good-naturedly. "They're a terrible bunch, aren't they?"

His family did much better: "I got a really cool, rare whiskey bottle from my cousin."

As for Gossip Girl, filming has moved from the city to the beach. What can viewers expect? Promises Westwick, "Debauchery and warm weather."

Britney Spears Granted Overnights with Her Sons!!

Britney Spears was awarded overnight privileges with her sons, PEOPLE confirms.

The pop star hasn't had her children overnight since January following her forced hospitalization at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

A closed-door hearing Tuesday, attended by Spears and her ex, Kevin Federline, also saw the return of Spears's first divorce lawyer, Laura Wasser, who has officially replaced Stacy Phillips.

L.A. Superior Court spokesman Allan Parachini confirmed that Spears's parenting coach attended the hearing and made statements to the court, and that Spears's demeanor before the commissioner was "businesslike."

"I think any judge is pleased to see progress being made by parties in a case," Parachini added.

Details of the hearing's outcome were not announced. But a source confirms for PEOPLE that Spears will now be allowed to have her sons Sean, 2 1/2, and Jayden, 1 1/2, with her overnight.

The former couple face a custody trial in August, unless they can settle their case amicably out of court.

Their next hearing is set for July 15.

Cynthia Nixon Hopes to Tie the Knot!!

Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon appears ready to walk down the aisle with her longtime partner Christine Marinoni.

But don't expect the couple to fly out to California where gay marriages were recently legalized.

"In an ideal world, we'd like to in New York, when it becomes legalized," Nixon, 42, told New York's Daily News.

"Hopefully, it won't take 20 years," Nixon added.

Nixon and Marinoni, 41, an education activist, began dating after the actress split from companion Danny Mozes in June 2003. Mozes and Nixon have two children: a daughter, Samantha, and son, Charles.

George Carlin: 1937 - 2008!!

Comedian George Carlin, famed for his routines about drugs and dirty words, died of heart failure at a Los Angeles-area hospital Sunday, a spokesman said. He was 71.

Carlin, who had a history of heart and drug-dependency problems, died at Saint John's Health Center in Santa Monica about 6 p.m. PDT (9 p.m. EDT) after being admitted earlier in the afternoon for chest pains, spokesman Jeff Abraham told Reuters.

Known for his edgy, provocative material, Carlin achieved status as an anti-Establishment icon in the 1970s with stand-up bits full of drug references and a routine called "Seven Words You Can Never Say On Television."

Carlin's comedic sensibility often came back to a central theme: humanity is doomed.

Carlin, who wrote several books and performed in many television comedy specials, is survived by his wife Sally Wade, and daughter Kelly Carlin McCall.

Universal Makes Date With Bruno!!

Bruno is all set to pull a Borat.

Universal has announced that Sasha Baron Cohen's latest R-rated comedy romp, Bruno—featuring the funnyman as a flamboyant fashionista with a penchant for tight leather clothing—will sashay his way into theaters May 15, 2009.

The film marks Cohen's follow-up to 2006's Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, which raked in a glorious $128.5 million in domestic ticket sales and landed such phrases as "sexy time" and "is niiice!" into the pop-culture lexicon.

Bruno will have some fierce competition, going up against Angels & Demons, Sony's prequel to The Da Vinci Code starring Tom Hanks. The following week will see Warner Bros.' Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins and Fox's Night at the Museum II: Escape From the Smithsonian.

No word yet on Bruno's full title or plot, but there are signs the film will take its cues from its predecessor by following the titular character as he takes his show on the road. For example, video footage of Cohen in Bruno mode hamming it up with an unsuspecting public at a Kansas airport surfaced on the Internet a few months ago.

Ellen, Tyra, Rachael Ray Share Daytime Emmy Glory!!

t's going to take an army—or at least a stronger contingent than they've got over at The View—to take down Ellen DeGeneres.

The master of witty self-deprecation won her fourth consecutive trophy for Outstanding Talk Show Host, once again besting Barbara Walters & Co. and Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa, at the 35th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.

"I never take this for granted...Every single year, I know people joke about it…It's not what we do it for, but it feels so good," DeGeneres said while thanking her fans, crew, family and fiancée, Portia de Rossi.

"We all know this has been a crazy year. On my show, we've done a lot of crying and a lot of laughing, and I've cried all by myself and people laugh, and then I cry some more...I know you're counting me down, but it's the longest day of the year, I just read, so I can go on," she continued, referring to tonight's summer solstice.

The Ellen DeGeneres Show did not pick up its fifth win for Outstanding Talk Show, however. Instead, that honor went to the endearingly upbeat Rachael Ray, the first major win for the love-her-or-hate-her Food Network star's syndicated strip. (read more)

Britney Spears Recording New Album!!

Britney Spears is currently at work on an upcoming album, her vocal producer and co-writer Jim Beanz confirms exclusively to Usmagazine.com.

"Britney is amazing," Beanz (recipient of the famed Eurovision Award for his song "Believe") tells Us.

The singer, 26, has had her share of drama, but "we never see anything but positives out of her.

"Everyone has personal stuff, but a true professional doesn't bring it into the studio," adds Beanz, who just opened his own studio, Sunset Entertainment Group, in Bryn Mawr, Pa.

In April, her former manager Larry Rudolph told Us that Spears — who is currently in Kentwood, celebrating sister Jamie Lynn's new baby girl Maddiehad gone into the studio "just for fun."

Added Rudolph, "she is on the right path."

Spears' last album, Blackout, debuted at No. 2 on the U.S. Billboard 200. The first single "Gimme More" was her most successful single in the U.S. since "...Baby One More Time."

BASSHUNTER aka Jonas Altberg = HOT!!

Basshunter aka Jonas Altberg was born 1984 in Halmstad, Sweden. He lives with his parents and younger brother 5 minutes from Swedens best beach "Tylösand". He can shortly be described as stubborn and creative person. He started to produce music in 1999 with a little help from the computer program "Fruityloops".

The interest of music became bigger and bigger. After a lot of demos spread over the internet, he started to get some phone calls from clubs that wanted to have him as a deejay. In April 2006 he got his first real contact to the music industry when signed a record deal with Warner Music. He released his first single Boten Anna in Scandinavia and it became a hit instantly. It all went very fast, much faster then Basshunter himself ever could expect.

Jamie Lynn Spears Has a Baby Girl!!

There is a new baby in the Spears clan! Jamie Lynn Spears and her fiancé Casey Aldridge welcomed a baby girl Thursday morning.

PEOPLE confirms exclusively that the baby was named Maddie Briann.

"Just the family was there," says a source about the birth around 9:30 a.m. at a hospital in Mississippi, near her Louisiana hometown. "Everyone is healthy and happy."

Jamie Lynn's sister Britney, father Jamie and brother Bryan flew in Wednesday to be with her for the birth; her mother Lynne had been with her helping her get ready for the baby.

Since announcing her pregnancy in December, Britney’s little sister has retreated from the bright lights of Hollywood, opting for the comforts of her hometown of Kentwood, La.

With her Nickelodeon show Zoey 101 already ended, Jamie Lynn went home to prepare for the birth of her baby. The actress, 17, and Aldridge, 19, got engaged in March. Recently, the couple purchased a three-bedroom home in Liberty, Miss., where Aldridge went to high school.

Over the last few months, Spears has kept busy by passing her GED exam, preparing the nursery and attending multiple baby showers.

Jamie Lynn's Zoey 101 costar, Erin Sanders, told PEOPLE earlier this year that the actress will be a fun mother.

"She is just a very good-hearted and warm person," he said. "We would always hang out on the set and she is a lot of fun, so I think she's going to be an easygoing, fun mom."

Sean Avery Survives His Vogue Stint!!

NHL bad-boy turned-fashion-intern Sean Avery says he hopes Vogue editor Anna Wintour will be asking him back next summer now that he's "made it out alive" from his last couple months at the magazine.

"I learned a ton," the New York Rangers left wing, 28, told PEOPLE Tuesday night at the Whitney Contemporaries Art Party presented by BCBG Max Azria. "I was surrounded by some of the greatest minds in American fashion and in the world."

Self-confessed clotheshorse Avery, whose on-ice antics have inspired an official NHL rule named after him, fulfilled a lifelong dream when he started at the fashion mag only a week after he was hospitalized for a lacerated spleen during a game in May.

Downplaying the comparisons between Wintour and her fictional doppelganger played by Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada, Avery said his least favorite aspect of his internship was having to do some of the unglamorous grunt work behind the scenes.

"The production aspects sucked, setting up the shoots," he said. "That's a little difficult. Yeah, I did it all."

For now, Avery said he's looking forward to hitting the beach, where he'll be showing off some of the fashion sense that rubbed off on him during his internship.

"I'm bringing the European flavor back to America," he says, "and I'm rocking a straight Speedo all summer."

David Beckham Strips Down for Armani — Again!!

Sara Evans Wedding Photo!!

Country singer Sara Evans gave PEOPLE a first look at her photo album from her Saturday wedding to former University of Alabama quarterback Jay Barker. "It was a fairy-tale wedding," Evans, 37, tells PEOPLE.

It was also a family affair: Evans, in an ivory Vera Wang gown, was escorted down the grassy aisle at a Tennessee farm by her three children, son Avery, 8, and daughters Olivia, 5, and Audrey, 3.

Barker's kids – Andrew, 9, Braxton, 8, and twins Sarah Ashlee and Harrison, 6 – gave him away.

The day after the wedding, the Barker Bunch were back home, grilling steaks and watching movies together. "We wanted this week to be just us together as a family because next week we go on our honeymoon," says Evans. "We just want to relish every moment as a family."

Next up for Evans and her children is a move to Birmingham, Ala., where Barker, 35, works as a sports radio host. Says Barker: "I can't believe we get to spend the rest of our lives together."
