Blender's fake March Cover!!
Further stirring the pot containing the stew that Britney Spears has gotten herself into, Blender magazine's March cover uses a manipulated photo illustration to put the troubled pop star in a comely pose with an upturned pair of Mickey Mouse ears serving as an overstuffed ashtray and a crumpled can of Red Bull next to her on the silk sheets. Inside the magazine are observations from various (and often unnamed) sources analyzing how Spears got into this fix, and how she might get out of it. "She was never really taught how to live … the basic things," says one former manager, while a "friend" says that Brit's breakup with Justin Timberlake precipitated her fall. "Ever since then," says the friend, "she's been mad at the world."

Britney Spears Allowed Phone Contact with Kids!!
Britney Spears is allowed to speak with her children on the telephone but still may not see them, according to court documents released Monday. Earlier Monday, Barbara Walters reported that Spears is seeking help for mental issues, according to confidante Sam Lutfi.

Hayden Panettiere Speaks Out at D.C. Whale Rally!!
Hayden Panettiere made a splash Sunday at a downtown Washington, D.C., demonstration that called for a stop to whale hunting. The 18-year-old Heroes star, speaking without notes, told the crowd, "Not only are these animals being cruelly slaughtered, the meat is contaminated by huge levels of mercury," reports The Washington Post's Reliable Source column, which likened the Heroes star to a latter-day Jane Fonda – though less politically controversial.
Continued Panettiere at the rally: "And we're not taking a stand because Japan is one of our biggest allies in the war on terror, but Australia is an ally and they've told Japan what they think, and good on them!" (read more)

They had everybody talking during their major red carpet entrance. But Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie seemed unable to keep their eyes off each other at the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday. Private Memorial for Heath Ledger Held in L.A.!!
An intimate memorial for Heath Ledger, attended by immediate family and close friends including former girlfriend Naomi Watts, was held in Los Angeles on Saturday night just hours after the actor's death was marked at a New York event. A discreet 30-minute service was held at Westwood Village Memorial Park, Australia's Channel 7 reports, during which Watts was "visibly upset."
Around 8 p.m. that evening, a small gathering of black-dressed mourners, including the Australian actress, was seen in the lobby of the Beverly Hills Hotel for a private event, a source said. Ledger's rep had said that no public memorial was planned for Los Angeles.
Earlier, about 1,000 guests at an Australian event in New York heard a message from Ledger's father, Kim Ledger, read by Australia's consul-general.
"Heath did not become an actor for the fame or fortune. He loved his craft and he loved helping his friends. He loved chess and skateboarding too," said the letter read to guests at the G'Day USA Australia Day Ball at the Waldorf Astoria in Manhattan. "My image of Heath in New York is him with his skateboard, a canvas bag and his beanie. That was Heath to me."
But mostly, Kim wrote, "Heath is and always will be an Australian."
Kim, Ledger's mother Sally and sister Kate were in Los Angeles on Saturday awaiting arrival of the actor's body from New York, The Age reports. Ledger was found dead in his New York apartment on Tuesday. A cause of death has not been determined.
According to several Australian news reports, a memorial and burial in Ledger's hometown of Perth are also expected.

New Kids On The Block Stage Comeback!!
After months of speculation and rumor, the Kids are coming back. A well-placed source tells PEOPLE exclusively that New Kids On The Block are indeed getting back together. The band's Web site, www.nkotb.com, which had been dormant, is now back up and running in anticipation of the official announcement, which the source says will be made in the next few weeks.
The site currently features a television graphic with a fuzzy, flickering photos of NKOTB in their heyday, and a link inviting fans to sign up for info.
The boy band, which made legions of tweens swoon in the early '90s, selling more than 50 million albums, became a worldwide phenomenon before calling it quits in 1994.
Eighteen years later, they're still "Hangin' Tough." The oldest "Kid," Jonathan Knight, now a real estate developer, will turn 40 later this year. Since the band's demise, former members Donnie Wahlberg, 38, and Joey McIntyre, 35, have seen acting success, while Danny Wood, 38, has worked as a music producer and Knight's brother, Jordan, 37, has continued to record.

SAG Awards Launch Belated Red Carpet Season!!
After the writers' strike doomed the Golden Globes, the stars will finally come out Sunday for the Screen Actors Guild Awards – the first major televised award ceremony to get a waiver from the Writers Guild of America. Tom Cruise, Russell Crowe, Denzel Washington, Kate Hudson, Matthew McConaughey, and Zac Efron are on the presenters list, while nominees George Clooney, Angelina Jolie, James Gandolfini and Golden Globe winners Cate Blanchett, Javier Bardem and Tina Fey are also expected to walk the red carpet at L.A.'s Shrine Auditorium.
The ceremony, which will be simulcast on TBS and TNT, also will include a tribute to actors who died this year, including Heath Ledger, who was found dead in his apartment on Tuesday.
The Screen Actors Guild's support of the striking writers in their ongoing dispute with Hollywood producers resulted in a waiver – permission for its writers to work for the SAG Awards ceremony – and the assurance that there would be no picketing of the show. No such deal applied to the Golden Globes, which was a ratings loser with entertainment show hosts announcing the winners. (read more)
